Core Guidelines for Every Member
Please follow these guidelines when listing books, accepting requests, and communicating with other members.
If you spot a prohibited content policy violation, please report it via the Report Listing option, available on the Book Details page when you open a book from the Browse Books menu option.
If you spot any suspicious activity, then you can report to us via the Contact Us page and we will review, investigate, and take the required actions to keep this community safe for everyone.
1. Accuracy Is Everything
When listing a book, please be honest about its condition.
- Snap clear photos: Use real photos of your book, not stock images from the web.
- Describe defects: If there are torn pages, highlighting, or water damage, mention it.
- If book accuracy is not followed while listing the book then book seeker may reject the book when coming for physical handover.
- Honesty builds your Trust Score within the community.
2. No Commercial Selling
Kitaabey is a Book Exchange, not a bookstore.
- Do not list books for cash profit.
- The platform is powered by our point-based system. Any attempt to bypass this system by asking for direct payments via UPI or cash will lead to account suspension.
3. Respect the Intellectual Property
We respect the hard work of authors and publishers.
- No Piracy: Listings for photocopied books, PDF versions, or pirated first copies are strictly prohibited.
- Originality: Only list physical books that you legally own.
4. Fair Play in the Point System
Our incentive system is designed to reward active sharers.
- No point farming: Creating multiple fake listings to gain points without the intention of exchanging is considered spam.
- Complete the cycle: If you accept an exchange request, please commit to it. Frequent no-shows or cancellations will lower your visibility on the portal.
5. Safe and Respectful Exchanges
Since you may be meeting or shipping books to fellow members:
- Privacy first: Use the internal messaging system to coordinate and share your phone number and address privately. Avoid sharing them publicly in book descriptions.
- Public meetings: For local handovers, meet in well-lit, public spaces.
6. Zero Tolerance for Prohibited Content
As a community for all ages, we do not allow:
- Pornographic or adult-rated material.
- Books promoting hate speech or violence.
- Spam, advertisements for other services, or thin-content listings.
- For more information on our prohibited content policy, please refer to the Terms of Service
