Frequently Asked Questions

Expand each question to see detailed steps.

1. Book Exchange Flow: Book Owner
  • Log In: Sign in using your registered email address.
  • Complete Profile: Ensure your profile is up to date.
  • Add Books: Navigate to My Books and click List my first Book or List more Books at the top right.
  • Listing Details: Please upload three clear images of your book. High-quality photos allow our AI Scan to read the content and automatically fill in most of the details for you. In the event that the AI Scan is unavailable due to technical issues, please enter the details manually. Once all required fields are complete, click the Save Listing button to finalize the process and make your book visible to the community.
  • Connect with Seekers: Interested book seekers can contact you via the chat feature on your Book Card, visible to them on Browse Books. Discuss exchange details and finalize a meeting time and place.
  • Manage Lock Requests: Ask the seeker to send a Lock Request. You can view and accept or reject requests directly from your Book Card on My Books. Accepting one request will automatically decline others and notify the respective seekers.
  • The Handover: Meet at the agreed location to hand over the physical book.
  • Complete the Exchange: Ensure the seeker clicks Book Received, visible on the Book Card on Browse Books, during the handover. This triggers the immediate transfer of Book Points from their wallet to yours.
2. Book Exchange Flow: Book Seeker
  • Log In: Sign in using your registered email address.
  • Complete Profile: Ensure your profile is up to date.
  • Search Books: Navigate to Browse Books and finalize the book you need in exchange.
  • Connect with Book Owner: Contact the book owner via the Chat with Owner feature visible on the Book Card. Discuss exchange details and finalize a meeting time and place.
  • Manage Lock Requests: Once everything is finalized via chat, send a Lock Request from the Book Card and wait for the book owner to accept it. This notifies the book owner automatically.
  • The Handover: Meet at the agreed location for handover of the physical book.
  • Complete the Exchange: Ensure you click Book Received, visible on the Book Card on Browse Books, during the handover. This triggers the immediate transfer of Book Points from your wallet to the book owner's wallet.
3. How to list your books

Go to My Books and click List your First Book (or List more Books). If your profile is incomplete, you will be asked to complete it first on My Profile.

On the listing form, add book details (title, writer, condition, photos, etc.), review estimated Book Points, and submit. Your book then appears to seekers in Browse Books.

4. How to earn Book Points and how to check them

You start with 200 Book Points after registration. You earn points when your listed book is exchanged, and you spend points when you receive a book from another user.

Check your complete points status on My BPWallet: Total Earned, Total Spent, Total Balance, Locked Points (reserved for lock requests), and Available Points.

5. How to check your environmental impact from exchanges

Open Book Exchange History to view your cumulative impact: Trees Saved, Water Saved (Liters), and Carbon Reduced (kg), plus your Books Given and Books Received history.

6. How to talk to book owners, lock books, and collect physically

Prerequisites: You can only start chat if your available Book Points balance (not locked) is equal to or greater than the book's required points.

Find a book in Browse Books or open its detail page, then use chat to discuss availability, condition, and pickup location with the owner.

After both sides agree, submit a lock request. Important: The required Book Points are immediately reserved/locked in your wallet while the request is pending. Once the owner accepts, coordinate physical pickup. After receiving the physical book, complete the exchange confirmation (by clicking on "Book Received" action on book Card ) so wallet and history are updated for both Book Seeker and Book owner.

7. How to talk to seekers, accept lock requests, and hand over physically

In My Books, check incoming messages and lock requests. Review requester messages, then use Accept or Reject for each lock request.

After accepting, coordinate handover directly with the seeker (place/time/contact), also ensure Book Seeker confirm the physical book collection by clicking on "Book Received" option in app on the book card, as without that book points and exchange history will not be updated for book seeker as well as book owner. If plans change, you can release the lock from the confirmed lock section so the book becomes available again.

8. What should I do if the book's quality or MRP does not match the listing during a physical exchange?

Occasionally, a book owner may accidentally list a book with an incorrect MRP or an inaccurate condition. If you discover this during the physical exchange, follow these steps to keep the transaction fair:

  • Step 1: The Book Seeker should remove their current book lock.
  • Step 2: The Book Owner updates the MRP or book condition in the app to reflect the actual state of the book.
  • Step 3: The Book Seeker sends a new lock request based on the updated details.
  • Step 4: The Book Owner accepts the new lock request.
  • Step 5: Once the details match, the Book Seeker collects the book and confirms Book Received in the app to complete the exchange.
9. How to report an issue to admin for resolution

Use the Contact Us page and submit your name, email, subject, and full issue details. Include book name, user details, and timeline so the admin team can resolve faster.

10. How to report a listed book that violates prohibited content policy

Open the book detail page and click Report Listing. Select one or more relevant prohibited policy categories and submit the report. You can review policy details in Terms of Service before reporting.

11. How to edit your listed book

Go to My Books, find the book card you want to edit, and click Edit. You will be redirected to the book listing form with all current details pre-filled. Update any fields (name, writer, photos, description, condition, etc.) and submit to save changes.

12. How to delete your listed book

Only book owners can delete. Go to My Books, find the book card, and click Delete.

Warning: Deletion is permanent and irreversible. All engagement data including conversations, lock requests, likes, views, and shares will be deleted and cannot be retrieved. Confirm carefully before proceeding.

13. How to reshare books you received

After reading the book you received from other book owners, if you want to list that book again for re-sharing, you can do so by following the same process as listing a fresh book.
